Working in rural ares of Dahanu to reduce Migration

NeevJivan Foundation has embarked on an ambitious journey to stop our fellow citizens in rural areas from migrating to the cities to in search of livelihood in association with Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP), Government of Maharashtra in Dahanu.

We are working with 13 women centric SHGs of the Katkari community in Ganjad & Dhabon villages covering ~ 200 women to create opportunities for livelihood in the villages…

The Katari community live deep in the rural areas of Palghar and have been listed as Primitive Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) by the Government of India. They are prone to migration to cities in search of jobs due to lack of opportunities in their villages.

We are now training them on making sanitary pads, patrawali (leaf based utensils), masala and papad & pickle making. This technical training is being layered with Entrepreneurship skills so that they are able to earn their living out of these vocations.

We have partnered with Krishi Vigyan Kendra and are in talks with Khadi & Village Industries Commission in Dahanu to teach the technical aspects of the vocations.

The whole objective is to stop them from migrating to the cities by creating opportunities for livelihood where they live. Hopefully, we will be able to achieve this over next 3-4 months.
