Livelihood for our "Farmer-Students"

On the occasion of the Farmers' Day in Maharashtra, we embarked on a very interesting journey with dual objectives - a. supporting our farmer-students with a source of livelihood and b. increasing the green cover in Jawhar taluka in the Palghar district.

To commemorate the occasion, we launched “Mission 3000 Trees”, a program to plant saplings of 3,000 oxygen generating / fruit bearing trees in association with the local government agencies…. Our farmer-students have started planting these trees and we hope to achieve our goal of planting 3,000 saplings in the next few days.

Mission 3,000 trees was launched under the banner of the Mahatma Gandhi Grameen Rozgar Yojana wherein the farmers are expected to nurture and grow the trees and the government pays them for their efforts over the net 3 years. Obviously, they are allowed to sell their produce in the market…..ensuring steady source of income for the farmers in the years to come.

It’s a WIN-WIN for all - increased Green Cover in the long run and livelihood for our farmers.
