Frequently Asked Questions

NeevJivan Foundation is a registered Section 8 Company (an NGO) working in the area of Skill Development and Vocational Training for the underprivileged and underserved section of our society living in rural India. It is our endeavor to create opportunities for sustainable livelihood for the tribal women & youth in their respective villages so that they do not have to migrate to the cities in search of greener pastures.
Our training modules programs have been curated for a period of 30 to 45 days depending on the type of course. e.g. the tailoring classes go on for 90 days, whereas the classes for Agriculture and allied enterprises are completed in 45 days
As on date, 16+ vocations can be taught to the beneficiaries, namely Tailoring, Poultry Farming, Goat Rearing, Vermi-composting, Mushroom Cultivation, Strawberry Cultivation, Masala Making, Papad Making, Pickle Making, Chikoo Processing, Bakery, Sanitary pad Making, Paper plate & Bowl Making, Paper bag Making, Agarbathi Making, Soap Making, etc These training programs are delivered through our Knowledge Partners M/s. Krishi Vigyan Kendra and M/s. Khadi Village Industries Commission, Dahanu
It is our endeavor to ensure everyone is comfortable with the medium of communication in our classes. Hence, we teach in Marathi and Hindi.
We charge the beneficiaries a nominal fe, which will eventually be returned to the students after completion of the course.
We run courses along two streams in parallel – a. Vocational Skill and b. Skills for Entrepreneurship; The idea is to enable our students learn the technical aspects of the vocation and also understand as to how a successful enterprise is run.
The foundation of the curriculum is the market assessment survey among the stakeholders.... conducted to understand the needs and aspirations of the beneficiaries and the limitations of the system ( also refer to the story - "Aspiration Assessment Survey" under the tab "Our Progress So far..." on the home page ) conducted to understand the need of the market – The curriculum is then curated with the sole objective of balancing the industry demand and the aspirations of the youth.
The key to the design of our curriculum is "Experiential learning". The classes are designed to be fun and interactive so that the students learn by “experiencing the challenges”. Group work, field studies, interactive games, case studies, etc are some of the tools used by us to teach the concepts.
We have three Knowledge Partners - 1. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dahanu 2. Khadi Village Industries Commission, Dahanu and 3. ID Tecch Foundation, Gurgaon (NSDC Affiliated Partner). We work with them in tandem to deliver the agriculture and non-agriculture based vocations to the beneficiaries.
It is our endeavor to help our students start a small scale venture of their own or facilitate the process of getting them employed. Apart from training them on the vocations of choice and entrepreneurship skills, we facilitate access to funds through government schemes, mudra loans and a few other MFI's... we further support them for a period of 6-8 months to stabilize their business operations.
Having worked with various groups of people in the community like farmers, youth and women for the last few years, we have zeroed in our focus on the tribal women. We work with the women centric Self Help Groups across the villages in Palghar district.. It is our endeavor to create opportunities for sustainable livelihood for them so that they do not have to travel to the cities in search of greener pastures.
Any women centric Self Help Groups in the villages who are keen on starting a small scale business are welcome to join our livelihood initiatives
Poverty is one of the biggest problems in the tribal areas where we work...the recent pandemic induced lockdown further added to their woes. With a monthly household income of just INR 5,000, there is hardly anything left to improve the quality of their life. As the rural economy slowly bounces back to normalcy, it is very important that we skill/re-skill/up-skill the people living here in such a manner that they can generate alternate sources of income and livelihood to improve their standard of living in the long run. If you think we are on the right track to mitigate this challenge…..then this is the right place for you to contribute and make a small difference in your own way.
